The produce of the land

 Joshua 5:9-12: The manna stops falling on the ground and the Israelites start eating of the produce of the land.

2nd Corinthians 5:16-21: Paul says everything is a new creation in Christ..... I take this to mean that the old class systems and ritual worship can be ignored. People relate to each other by what's in their hearts.

Luke 15:1-3,11b-32: The story of the prodigal son. I like it mostly because of the fatted calf. Kill the fatted calf and let's have a BBQ party. Not a good picture for vegetarians, but when I was a kid my Dad bbqed a lot. I can understand the loyal son being perturbed about him not ever getting a party, but what the heck, a party is a party; invite your friends and kick back. Jesus is saying to the Pharisees, lighten up a little. I may be eating with the unwashed, but let your guard down a little and enjoy yourselves for a change.
