Psalm 63:1-8: A Psalm of praise for God. I like verse 6...and when I meditate on you in the watches of the night. I've done that before.
Daniel 3:19-30: When Nebuchadnezzar threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace for not bowing down to him. And they came out without a scratch. That's the one thing I couldn't do, bow down to anyone although I doubt if I'd have made it out of the furnace. Kings get stuck on themselves and usually get their due eventually. That's where a hierarchical religion kind of inspires hierarchical government. Horizontal religions are better. People getting along across borders. If the higher-ups want to soothe their egos, let them go to St. Helena, that island in the South Atlantic where they sent Napoleon.
Revelation 2:8-11: the angel says to the church at Smyrna: that they will be persecuted and suffer. Be faithful unto death. For me, I'll be faithful to my family but this political religious stuff is for the birds.
