Job 1:1-22: Job is an upstanding man and worships God. But Satan says that's just because he's a rich guy. So God let's Satan test Job, but he says just don't hurt him. So Job loses all his wealth and his sons and daughters. This is a bizarre story. Even as fiction, I don't like it. And it's another story about rich people. Not many stories in the Bible about everyday people.
Luke 21:34-22:6: Jesus says always be ready as the bad times are coming and you need the strength to get through it. Then the story of Judas going to the leaders to betray Jesus. I think the writer just wanted to discredit Judas for some reason. This just like the wise men story. Herod could have sent one of his men to follow the wise men to Jesus. Here, the Pharisees could have sent someone to always keep and eye on Jesus. Actually, I think it was the Romans that were after Jesus. Jesus was on the fringes of accepted theology, still, he was one of the Jewish nation. And some Pharisees thought he was ok, like Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea.
