1st Chronicles 21:1-17: David takes a census and apparently this is a no-no as God hits Israel with a plague that kills 70,000 people. This is weird as they had all that numbering going on back in the book of numbers. This makes me think of work where 20% of your job is just keeping the boss happy. You're doing things that have nothing to do with keeping the business functioning or helping customers. This makes me think that having hierarchical religions, tend to lead to hierarchical government and businesses with ego fulfilling bosses, instead of horizontal systems where everyone works together to get a well- functioning society.
Psalm 17: Speaking of egos, here's David again saying I'm a great guy, get rid of my evil enemies. Well, Samuel warned Israel when they demanded a king, how weird it would be.
1st John 2:1-6: Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins. And how may we be sure we know him, by obeying his commandments. And who get to decide what his commandments are and who decides if we are following them? The same stuck on themselves leaders as in the previous two readings.
