Patrick Henry vs James Madison

At the Virginia convention to ratify the US Constitution, Patrick Henry made this statement in rebuttal to Madison's support of ratification:

Some way or other we must be a great and mighty empire; we must have an army, and a navy, and a number of things. When the American spirit was in its youth, the language of America was different. Liberty, Sir, was the primary object.... You make the citizens of this country agree to become the subjects of one great consolidated empire of America.... When I come to examine these features, Sir, they appear to me horribly frightful. Among other deformities it has an awful squinting; it squints toward monarchy.

Benghazi

They are trying to sort thru the Benghazi incident. We shouldn't have had people there begin with. The only countries we would maybe need government or military personnel is Canada and Mexico as we share a border and may need to sort through border incidents. And I suppose we may need people once in a while to develop aviation protocol. Some people call this isolationist. But I believe that American business and tourists have enough good products and economic clout that they don't need military and diplomatic force to back them up. If countries like China with crooked governments or a like Somalia where the are always kidnapping people can't act civilized, then they will have to do without access to the American economy. It would only take a couple kidnappings or bad business deals, and Americans wouldn't go there and then those countries would suffer. We don't necessarily need a government boycott of Cuba. If they are screwed up, people just won't go there.

Intro

I'm mostly libertarian in my views. I believe in a very limited US foreign policy.We should bring home the all our troops from overseas. We should cut our carriers groups to six: one for each coast and one for hot spots. And then three for backups. These would be used to make sure our merchant ships weren't being harassed, not to project our political will. If we are going to use our military against terrorists,prisoners should be treated as prisoners of war without torture or interrogation. At home, I don't believe in an assault weapons ban, when the President can use unmanned drones to kill American citizens anywhere in the world without court ordered death sentences. I don't like the new health care act because people should just get the care they need and can afford. In elections people should write in who they want to elect. There should be no preprinted ballots. The political parties have too much power to rig elections. I don't think the state and federal govrnment should have any say in education. People should get the education they want.
